What are different types of Cancer

Cancer a disease not known in the past has now been diagnosed as a serious and fatal. Many of its types along with their treatments have been discovered so far.

AIDS-related Cancers

People with HIV are at a greater risk of suffering from certain type of cancers, such as
  • Kaposi sarcoma
  • Non-Hodgkin lymphoma
  • Hodgkin disease
  • Lung cancer
  • Cervix cancer
  • Mouth cancer

Anal Cancer

This cancer attacks the tissues of the anus, the opening of the rectum, intestinal part. In U.S alone 720 deaths occurred due to Anal Cancer in 2010, whereas 5,260 new cases were reported in the same year.

Bone Cancer

The cancer that is formed in the cells of the bones is bone cancer. Various types of primary bone cancer are:
  • Osteosarcoma
  • Chodrosarcoma
  • Ewing sarcoma
  • Malignant fibrous histiocytoma

Brain tumor

Brain tumor refers to the growth of abnormal cells in brain tissues. These can be benign which is not termed as cancer but malignant for is really dangerous. In 2010, estimated 13,140 deaths occurred due to brain and other nervous system cancers. The statistics for new cases are 22,220 during the same year.

Breast Cancer

It is quite common among women and occurs when it affects breast ducts that carry milk to the nipple, and lobules the glands responsible to produce milk. It can occur in men also but is rare.

Gastrointestinal carcinoid tumor

Hormone producing cells in the lining of gastrointestinal tract (the stomach and the intestines), are the target of this cancer formation. Usually, it occurs in the appendix, small intestine or rectum. In people with this cancer, there is an increased risk of other digestive system cancers.

Leukemia

This cancer is initially formed in bone marrow, the tissues that form blood. Then it causes a large number of blood cells produced to enter bloodstream.
