Types of blood cancer

There are four types of blood cancer determined by the type of the disease and the basis of the affected blood cells. The previous gauge for judgment classifies the types into acute or chronic. Then further it divides into two types which is lymphoblastic or lymphocytic leukemias and myeloid or myelogenous leukemias.

Blood mainly contained red blood cells (RBC) white blood cells (WBC) and platelets. The red blood cells supply oxygen to the whole body. The white blood cells defend our body and platelets supports in clotting of the blood in case of injury.

Following are the types of blood cancer:

Acute  Lymphocytic or Lymphoblastic LeukemiasThe word acute associates to fast growth of this disease. It includes making of large number of undeveloped blood cells in the bone marrow. Production of healthy blood cells as a result get hampered. This kind of cancer is found among children and needs urgent treatment. It is due to the aberrant cells can enter into the blood and reach the disease to new locations of the body making it cureless.

The function of the normal white blood cells are to defend the body against disease. But when cancer make them malignant and these cells are build in very large amount risk develops for the entity of normal cells. In this way disease expanse to new locations of the body from the lymph node which results in the death of the victim.

Sub types of acute lymphocytic or  Lymphoblastic Leukemias

  • Precursor B acute lymphoblastic leukemia
  • Acute biphenotypic leukemia
  • Burkitt’s leukemia
  • Precursor T acute lymphoblastic leukemia

Chronic Lymphocytic or Lymphoblastic LeukemiasIn the chronic kind of the disease there are big number of comparatively mature but abnormal white blood cells produced. It gets months or even years for these abnormal cells to be produced at  a higher rate than the normal blood cells. There is a sluggish increase in the production of the B cells. These cells mainly belong to the immune system and create substances in the blood which defend us from disease. The cancer act on adults above the age of 55 years. It is unluckily incurable.

sub types Chronic Lymphocytic or Lymphoblastic Leukemias
It has only one main sub-type named  B-cell prolymphocytic leukemia

Acute  Myelogenous or Myeloid Leukemiasblood cells are formed in the bone marrow. The process is called as Haematopoiesis. All these cells of blood are formed from single cell type called the stem cell. This cell has the unique quality of getting turned into any other cell type in the body depend on the requirement.

Around 1011–1012 new blood cells are formed on daily basis inside a healthy adult’s body to keep normal functioning. Any discrepancy in this formation limit in the bone marrow causes myeloid cancer.Aberrant white blood cells abnormally grow in the bone marrow disturbing the formation of normal blood cells. It is regarded to a comparatively infrequent disease. It is found in men than women.

Sub-types acute  Myelogenous or Myeloid Leukemias

  • Acute promyelocytic leukemia
  • Acute megakaryoblastic leukemia
  • Acute myeloblastic leukemia

Chronic Myelogenous or Myeloid LeukemiasImmature abnormal white blood cells in the bone marrow are formed at an furious rate before they enter into the blood stream. This cancer chiefly  affects adults and children are sometime affected by it. The five-year survival average is 90 percent with anti-cancer drugs for example imatinib.

Sub-types chronic Myelogenous or Myeloid Leukemias
It has only one subtype for chronic Myelogenous or Myeloid Leukemias named the chronic monocytic leukemia.
